Team Be Nimble

Steve Wagner speaks in March at Oregon Right to Life's "Together We Advocate" Conference.

Impact Report: September 2024

We exist to help Christians live out their concern for every human being, born and unborn, through conversations that change hearts and minds. In this Impact Report, we feature highlights from Justice For All (JFA) events that took place from March to September.

“This event was very eye-opening and helped me better understand how to handle the topic of abortion in conversation, while still being sensitive to the pain post-abortive people have experienced.”
— Reilly (summer workshop participant)

We’ve found that empowering our trainers to do events on their own helps our team to be nimble and ready to meet the great need all over the country for good dialogue training—training that includes outreach whenever possible.

For these events, we sent trainers out individually, in twos, or in threes. Our trainers rose to the challenge, and these small-team events allowed us to reach more people in more places:

Deer Park, NY: In March, Long Island Coalition for Life invited Steve Wagner to bring an all-day interactive workshop to New Yorkers. 60 attended for the whole day, and 20 additional people attended for a portion of the day.

San Marcos, CA: Rebekah Dyer led local volunteers in an outreach event at Palomar College.

Mary leads a workshop at Wayne State in Nebraska in April in preparation for outreach in August.

Tualatin, OR: In March, Steve Wagner spoke to more than 200 at Oregon Right to Life’s annual conference in Tualatin (near Portland). He encouraged participants to transform their conversations with common ground, and he showed them how to speak up for the unborn with both relational sensitivity and intellectual sophistication. Then 32 of those participated in Steve’s interactive breakout session.

In my six years of pro-life activism, this was the best dialogue training I have received, far more effective than [training from three other organizations].
— Sarah (summer flagship training program participant)

Wayne, NE: In April, Mary Biegler equipped 11 students in Wayne in preparation for JFA’s outreach trip in August.

Rebekah, Paul, and Jeremy train students in Iowa prior to the outreach event.

Los Angeles, CA: In May, Rebekah Dyer and Jeremy Gorr taught 21 through an interactive seminar, and a number of these then went on to participate in our two-day outreach event on UCLA’s Bruin Walk.

Houston, TX: In May, Steve Wagner was invited by Texas Right to Life to train seven college students through an interactive seminar and an outreach event at University of Houston. These leaders are now scattered throughout Texas, guiding college campus pro-life clubs.

Washington, DC: In June, Kristina Massa spoke to student leaders from across the country gathered for the National Leaders Collective of Students for Life of America. Also in June in DC, Steve Wagner led an interactive workshop for Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust to prepare them for outreach they were conducting in DC that week.

“It gave me an urgency to not only give voice to the unborn child but also the post-abortive woman. This class really opened my eyes to the horror of abortion and the need for healing that mothers and fathers who have lost babies to abortion have.”
— Kaycee (summer workshop participant)

Olathe, KS: In June, Kristina Massa and Jon Wagner equipped a group at a local parish in the Kansas City area.

Houston, TX: In July, Jon Wagner and Jeremy Gorr equipped 20 Texas college student leaders, again in conjunction with Texas Right to Life.

Dubuque, IA: In July, Paul Kulas, Rebekah Dyer, and Jeremy Gorr equipped 30 local volunteers and staff members of Dubuque County Right to Life (DCRTL) through two interactive workshop events. Then at DCRTL’s high school summer camp, they led 18 students through JFA’s flagship training program, including both an interactive seminar (“seat work”) and outreach at a local farmers market (“feet work”).

Miami, FL: In July, Andrea Thenhaus, Jon Wagner, and Kristine Hunerwadel trained a student pro-life group and other locals at Florida International University. The team made connections for future events in Port St. Lucie as well. (Kristine served as a volunteer at this event, but now she has joined the JFA team as a trainer in Denver!)

Wichita, KS: In August, Paul Kulas, Kristina Massa, and Seth Wiesner connected with and equipped participants at the Midwest Catholic Family Conference in Wichita through a table in the exhibit hall.

Rogers, AR: In August, Kaitlyn Donihue, Andrea Thenhaus, and Jon Wagner equipped 42 people in Northwest Arkansas through workshops at Gospel Light Baptist and Counteract (a local study engaging cultural and political issues from a Biblical perspective).

Online: In three workshop sessions over three weeks in August, Jeremy Gorr, Kaitlyn Donihue, Mary Biegler, Susanna Dirks, and Kristina Massa worked in pairs to train a number of people through a Love3 workshop series. Upcoming online workshops take place Oct. 5 and Dec. 2-4. See the JFA Event Calendar.

Denton, TX: In September, Jon Wagner led a total of 10 local volunteers and students as they participated in portions of a two-day outreach event at University of North Texas (UNT).

I’ve tabled before but I’ve never emotionally connected in so many ways to the people I’ve spoken to. It was really a great and moving experience for so many people to share with me their stories.
— Sophie, summer flagship training program participant in Texas
Thank you, Steve, for your presentation. It was life-changing for me on how to speak and defend the unborn.
