(This page is a work in progress.)
Unintended pregnancy is not simple, and it's not easy. One purpose of this page is to attempt to find the best solutions to offer to women and men considering how to face the challenges of unintended pregnancy. We'll be up front with you: we don't think abortion is a good solution, because we think the evidence shows that the unborn is a human being with equal rights to the rest of us, and we also think that while a woman's right to her body is very important, we don't think that right includes the right to have another human being killed by abortion.
This reality doesn't change the fact that there are many heartbreaking circumstances which lead people to contemplate abortion. Violence against women, policies which harm women, and cultural norms which harm women are all serious problems throughout the world. We must explore solutions to these underlying problems if we want to truly help women and children.
But this discussion leads to another: What's the solution to the abortion controversy? That's the other purpose of this page: How can we move things forward in a way that shows respect for all of the human beings involved, including those with whom we disagree?
So, let's explore solutions together to the practical challenges of unintended pregnancy, the undercurrent of violence that leads to some of these practical challenges, and to the abortion controversy which has caused so much division.
Meeting the Practical Challenges of Unintended Pregnancy
What can we suggest, then, for the women and men facing very real and difficult challenges related to unintended pregnancy or unanticipated pregnancy complications?
We are optimists. If you are pondering what to do with an unintended pregnancy, we think you are capable of great things. We hope you will not believe the lie that says that you must kill your child in order to get through this challenge. We believe in you. We also believe in the many people throughout the USA who have volunteered to help. Thousands have volunteered to adopt children (even those with disabilities), to support women through their pregnancies, and to support women after their pregnancies. Here are some links to some of best of these solutions:
If you or someone you know is considering abortion, JFA’s What Is the Unborn? and What Is Abortion? webpages may help. In addition, the Abort73 website is an important resource for thinking through your decision. Reading stories from women and men who have experienced pregnancy and abortion can help as well. If you have abortion in your past and are looking for a listening ear or resources for healing, see this page.
Please feel free to call the JFA office (316-683-6426) and ask to speak with one of our trainers who can help you find resources in your area.
Because some women are considering or have begun a chemical abortion protocol such as RU-486, and since we believe women deserve all of the available medical information about chemical abortion procedures, we encourage you to look at the facts about “Abortion Pill Reversal.” You may be able to reverse the abortion process, but you need to act quickly.

Kindle Affection for the Forgotten
We must work to stop the violence as described above, but we must also do something else: We need to help people love more passionately those who are forgotten.
We think of the women in distress in all sorts of difficult circumstances. Is it not a lack of love that keeps us from working to find solutions for them? Is it not a lack of love that causes families and boyfriends to abandon women to abortion, causing them to feel completely alone?
We think of the smallest humans on earth. Is it not a lack of love that causes us to treat them as medical waste? Is it not a lack of love that has dehumanized them so that we can hardly see that they exist, let alone treat them with the respect and dignity every human being deserves?
We think of the thousands of people we have met over the years who disagree with us about abortion, women's rights, and solutions to unintended pregnancy. Each of these people is also a human being with intrinsic value. Even if I think people are mistaken about some belief, I can protect their right to speak, and I can speak up on their behalf when others are shouting them down or calling them names. So often for activists on both sides of the abortion question, we speak up for human beings we believe are being forgotten (the woman or the unborn), but we forget that the person standing right in front of us is a human being as well. Is it not a lack of love that has caused us to forget this person in front of us?
Let us seek then also, to work together to kindle affection for all of these forgotten human beings.
